ART DEPARTMENT NEWS
Art Club & National Art Honor Society are hosting monthly meetings with art workshops this school year. Each month will be hosted by a different art teacher, teaching a workshop with new materials and methods that are not typically covered in our art classes. Topics so far this year have included printmaking methods, resin pendants, mini drape molds for ceramics, wool felting, and more. The club meets after school and is open to all OOHS students (CDL and in-person). If you're interested in joining Art Club or NAHS or have questions, please contact Mrs. Forney.
The annual Orange High School Art Wall of Fame artist and work of art was chosen from the graduating class of 2020 last spring. Marina Siles was chosen as the Outstanding Senior and her work will be added to the permanent collection of art for OOHS and displayed on the wall of fame in the building. Other awards from the 2020 Spring Arts Festival include Best of Show: Matt Brady and Principal's Choice Award: Jessica Sillus. Category awards and ribbons were also awarded to over 80 students last spring. We look forward to celebrating a virtual Spring Arts Festival for 2021 with the hopes of being back in person for 2022.
ANNUAL SPRING ARTS FESTIVAL
The annual Spring Arts Festival at OOHS will be held virtually for 2021. A senior "art lifer" showcase will still be held with seniors displaying their work around the building for their peers and teachers to view. Awards will be given in late April and artwork will be viewable online for the virtual exhibition. More information will be forthcoming.
ART EXHIBITIONS
The Delaware County Arts Castle Exhibition has been canceled for 2021. They look forward to having the show again next school year.
The Scholastics Regional Art Competition results will be posted in late January. Good luck to all the students who entered this year! Information on Scholastics can be found by visiting www.ArtandWriting.org
The Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition will have online submissions open from February 16 - March 4. Visit www.GovArt.org for more information. Students (CDL and in-person) should work with their art teacher on the new submission process.
